Hello, I am hoping to get some thoughts on what may have caused my 4-year old cochin hen to die suddenly. She was lying on the coop floor, feet/legs behind her, very lethargic. Looked over her and the feathers around her vent were soaked with something, but not blood. Her comb was purple and I could tell she was dying. I wrapped her up and held her and she died within minutes. Needless to say, I'm heartbroken over losing one of my sweet girls and need to figure out what happened. Thoughts please?

The comb turning purple indicates something was going on with her oxygen, so it could be some kind of circulatory issue.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's even more wrenching when they go with us there... But she had you to hold her and love her while she passed.

It's very hard to not know if there was something I could have done or seen prior to today. Thank you
