Hen died

Hello,
I am both new to BYC and to raising chickens. I just lost a 2 year old Cochin hen today. She seemingly dropped dead outside in the grass. Any suggestions of what may have happened?

I wouldn't think it would be the heat, because it was a beautiful cool day today.

Egg binding you would she her in some sort of distress squatting , fluffed up.

ok, is there anything that can be done? I didn't see her in distress, but I don't watch them all day.
