I wouldn't make a pip until tonight before you go to bed. Once you start an assist it alters the natural process. You heard it peeping last night, so I would give it at least until tonight.

Well shortly after I wrote you this morning, I looked again, and lonebehold, a pip! How long do I wait before assisting, I'd no progress has been made?

Yup, that's a pip! give it at least 24 hours to start zipping.

Congrats on your baby!! You're welcome for the help! It looks like it might just be a little of the leftover poop that is in the shell. Or a little unabsorbed yolk. How is she doing this morning? Are you going to put her back under mama tonight?

It did fall off shortly after I asked you lol! Maybe I just need more patience haha. I did place her back with mama and the other chicks last night around 10:30pm. I figured the sooner, the better! She took her in with the other babies right away. They are still not roaming about yet and I thought all nine eggs hatched but she is still laying on a couple, perhaps a few. It's hard to see as I placed her temporary broody box inside the coop we made for her. Will check later in the morning as it warms up.

we ended up with 8 little fluff balls! <3 one being the one I saved. Once she got off the eggs two were duds and one pipped a decent hole, but never made it out at least I saved one!
