We have a 6 month old buff orpington hen who is doing a weird thing with her neck. She makes a movement that reminds me of that teenage girl head neck wobble when they do the "oh no you didn't girlfriend' thing. It is mostly after she eats or drinks. I brought her in yesterday morning when I noticed her doing this and her crop was completely empty and she wasn't pooping properly. She was pooping milky white stuff and only sparingly. In the first 12 hours of being in she only pooped 4 times. I got her to start drinking a little, she ate some hard boiled egg mashed up with oil and it wasn't long after that when she had an oily poop so I don't there is a blockage anywhere. Her comb was really pale and purplish on the tips for a bit and she was cold but now she is warm, comb bright red and a bit perkier. Her poop has become much more normal overnight but dry. She is still doing the neck thing alot. Could she have a neck injury? I checked all along her neck and there are no bumps. Wondering what to do. Oh ya, and she is on a medicated layer ration with oyster shells on the side. No vets around us take chickens and we are pretty isolated.
