Hen eating eggs

Both are broody or one is just keeping the other company. Even my Muscovy drake will go in and lay next to his broody female sometimes for most of the day. Your ducks are beautiful by the way. I have 2 cochin bantams sharing a nest right now. How many eggs are under them or her?
I gather up the eggs every morning, so there's none extra accumulating, just whatever they've laid from the night before.

This morning there was just the one blue plastic egg they were sitting on. It looked like the only one laid had been broken. :(

And thank you, ❤️ it really just takes my breath away how beautiful they are sometimes. Of course I had nothing to do with that! Hahah It makes me sad though too, we won't have any more baby ducklings any time soon. But maybe someday. :) They sure have my heart lol

Are you letting your Cochins hatch out a nest? How many eggs?! That will be so exciting to see

I have one rooster who is a tiny OEGB and he hasn't ever been able to fertilize an egg. He has one hen same breed as he but she doesn't lay. But I do have 2 Muscovy sitting one is on 2 Runner eggs and the other on a Buff/Runner egg and 2 fake ones that she won't give up.
I'm sorry you won't get any ducklings from this time but don't give up on them.

Oh fun! I just love the OEG birds. Yeah, I would love to get another quad of babies and try again once we have a better setup. Of course that means again you risk not having a drake if he's taken like before. So we'll see. We mAy be moving into a place where it would still just be a backyard setup, but would be more contained, so hopefully a little more secure. That, or give these girls some hatching eggs 😊

Sounds like a plan!

Today was a little better. I was a bit bummed about not having ANY eggs to show from the ducks yesterday, and I went ahead and tossed all three blue eggs in the coop.

This morning I woke up to four lovely eggs! (3 blue + 1 real) Bianca was sitting with them all lined up in a perfect little row around her chest! I should have gotten a picture, but my phone was in the house lol So sweet!

Two beautiful eggs, and two even more gorgeous sitters! ❤️❤️❤️

Tawny ran out as soon as I opened the hut door, and then luckily I was able to pull TWO beautiful eggs from the girls this morning! I didn't yank the girls immediately though, and it was so cute to see Bianca come over and gently inspect the blue eggs, nestle them into position, and sit right back down again, in the proud, dutiful yet stately fashion that only a duck, I'm sure, can do. (Okay, or maybe a peahen! 😄) But any rate, Jemima followed suit and settled right in beside her... I love these girls!

Maybe swans, swans are arguably perhaps even more dignified than a duck lol but I wouldn't know to see them nesting in person. Lol

Finally!!!! Three good eggs today! 🎉🎉🎉

I had started getting two again maybe about a week ago, but sometimes the one would be eaten or soft shelled. What a relief it is to finally get three nice eggs again like the good old days! Lol

Jemima looks like she's going through a little bit of a molt, so I wasn't sure if she was going to be laying, so we'll see what happens...
