One month ago we found our female turkey knocked out and with bloody head; thinking it was the rooster we separated the chickens from the two turkeys -- tom and female. Just tonight my husband found our female turkey, Trudy, on her back and a little blood on her head, she came to as he rubbed her belly. The Tom Must have done this!! Is this normal??? What can we do to protect our female turkey?!?! she just started laying eggs for the first time, she is 10 months old as is the tom. thanks!

Sounds like a separation is in order at least till she heals up then you might want find a new tom if this continues .

I had such a problem with a gander once as he had two geese and preferred just the one and wanted no others around .
