Went into the hen house to gather the eggs to day and 1 of our hens was dead on the floor. Some of the eggs in the nest boxes where bloody. So I examined the dead hen to find that her vent was badly lasserated, lots of dark red blood losing out. I could not find a blood trail in the straw and she was still warm. My theory is that an egg got stuck, broke an she bleed out.
Am I on the right track as why she passed or am I missing something? By the way she started laying end of August this year(2020).
Just need to know if there is something to watch out for down th road.
