I did the water test and two for sure showed movement. I don't have an incubator, so humidity could be a problem. One pipped today and the membrane was hard and dry. I soaked with a warm wet paper towel and pulled back to edges of shell. It's resting now. Thermometer is staying right around 99.5 with slight fluctuations.

Any advice.

I hatched chicks in a brooder before that were at least 6 days away from hatching.

I used a regular warm light bulb, & wet paper towels placed under the eggs. I never had a thermometer, or hygrometer at the time, but was successful. I hatched in a cardboard box before too.

Also, make sure the chicks don't pip on the bottom of the egg shell against the paper towel, they'll suffocate. I learned my lesson on doing this.
