So!
It's been a LONG time since I've posted but our chicken (We call her Sick Chick even though she is better) is back up to speed.
We let her outside a few weeks ago on a sunny day and all she wanted to do was dust, dust, dust!!! But a couple of her "old friends" are NOT being nice.
I put Sick Chick in a separate enclosure, out with the other hens, a few days ago. When I returned from town, there were blood splatters in her enclosure; one of the "old friends" had pecked her near her eye where the comb meets and bloodied her up! Through the chainlink (their enclosure) and the chicken wire (hers). Buncha brats!
There are about 3 birds in particular that just are NOT letting her integrate well. One is our other leghorn (with whom Sick Chick was hatched)... one is a Wyandotte and the other is some sort of Australorp mix (I say mix because she has a green sheen to her black feathers that our other Australorps don't have). I let them all out to free range under supervision yesterday and the poor thing either got run off from everything she wanted to peck at, or she would actually FREEZE in her tracks when the Wyandotte got close.
Any suggestions for helping integrate her back into the flock more easily??? We can't... and don't want to... keep her separate from the others forever....
THANKS in advance.......
