thanks Lunachick. no i havnt named my chooks although i like to sit down and pat them everyday and talk to them if no ones looking. i love my hens and i wouldnt even think of eating one of them., im reading some of the posts now about crops . her crop is still there but i think its not as big . im still uncertain about gritt , im feeding them golden yolk pellets , no more bread. does that or other pellet foods contain gritt . sorry for a stupid question but what is gritt do they get it free ranging around the back yard?

Do you have a feed store near you? I purchased a small bag of oyster shell grit that they had there, it lasts a long time for my two birds. They kinda know to gobble up small stones and grainy sand in the yard. the grit helps them crunch up their food before it's totally digested.

How is the crop now? As long as she's running around and being a happy chicken, she's probably all right.

yea shes fine and happy . the crop is not as large as it was when we were feeding bread but its been about 5 days now since i stopped the bread .. its not looking too big i might go to pets paradice later today and see if they stock anything like oyster shell grit .

poultry supply stores, or farm/feed stores might have granite grit...which is for grinding the food for digestion.
it comes in different sizes.
