Hi there,

My 8 week old hen has matching wounds on her cheeks/neck area. I am going to put neosporin on them but I am wondering if it could be a disease or did she get her head stuck or something. It doesn't seem to bother her, but I am going to quarantine her until she is healed. Also - anyone have any idea what breed she is? She was an "extra" from rural king but she wasn't marked. I thought she was a leghorn until she developed a few brown feather. :-)

I can’t see anything other than the ears where is the wound?
Ok. Now maybe I am an idiot. I posted both pics before the first one shows how deep it is. Are those her ears? I have never had a chicken with bright blood red ears before.

Definitely not a pullet with that comb at 8 weeks.
Well she was a lot bigger then the others. I think she was a couple weeks when I got her. I have had her for 8 weeks. I guess I will have to figure out how to tell if she is a he.

I don't see any wounds. Are you thinking the earlobes are wounds? You might want to get a chicken anatomy book. The more general information you know about chickens, the better you'll know when something is wrong.
