This is my first flock so Im not sure if this is normal behavior. I have 2 Cocks and 3 hens. They have always stuck close to eachother, even freaking out a little when looking up and noticing they have become seperated, until recently. One hen has removed herself from the flock during the day. She spends the whole day in or near my garage a long way from the flock. She does go in to roost at night but has begun sleeping in the nesting box. When I open the coop in the morning she is the first one out and runs like hell to get to the garage. They are all about 19 weeks and I havent found any eggs yet but Im expecting them any day now. She is a Auracana if that matters. My best guess is that she is about to start laying or that my more agressive with the ladies rooster has driven her off.

Your cockerel to pullet ratio may be a bit off. As you suspect, she may be lowest on the social order and is weary of all the abuse, from both over zealous young cockerels or over bearing hens. Normally, this kind of thing is fairly obvious by observation. At 19 weeks, you are at point of lay. She shouldn't be sleeping in the nesting box, because sleeping birds soil them something fierce.

Why two cockerels, with only 3 hens?

Why 2 cockerels to 3 hens? Luck of the draw. When I bought them they were supposed to be 5 hens. I have been thinking about buying 6 more pullets to even things out as I really like both roosters and dont really want to get rid of either. But, I have been seriously considering taking out the top rooster as the second one is a much prettier bird.

You have too many roosters, and your hen is taking the only action she can to preserve her sanity, which is hiding for dear life. If she doesn't she's just going to get shoved to the ground and taken advantage of all day until she loses all her feathers, and probably starts getting injured.

She's not a dumb lady, she's gonna hide instead.
