HELP!!!! MY two year old Delaware hen came tome Monday evening with her eye completely shut. She was clucking low and seemed to be in some distress. She was under my porch and there were no other birds around. I was on the tractor so I did not see what happened.
Anyhoo, had just enough time to get her to the feed store and ask the owner what to do. He thought she may have a sinus infection. He has been out of antibiotic eye ointment forever (even my vet can't get it) But he opened her eye , said her eye was still there, and sprayed a little Vetericyn on it. At that point she was trying to open her eye a little.
Get her home, . Yesterday she had a yellow discharge coming from her eye. But her attitude was good, she did not want to be in the "hospital" I remembered I had antibiotic eye drops from .the vet and put a few drops in (if they got in)
Well today her whole eye , even it seems 1/2 her head is swollen. It is horrible.
I want to prevent her from losing her eye. What can I do for her??
What can I do. I actually called the feed store owner last night, and they said a chicken will survive with one eye. I'm not ready to go there yet
