Repeat swollen eye, possibly CRD

I would keep trying to get all of the solid gunk out of the eye socket. To me it looks like the eye may be gone. Rinse with saline or an eye wash such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief twice a day. Tylosin and doxycycline both treat bacteria that can cause respiratory disease, such as MG. Tylosin is usually given for 3-5 days. Since she has had it for 9, I would try to get some probiotics into her. She could have a secondary infection in her eye. Since we are not vets it is hard to know what kind. You might check with your vet about giving any more drugs.

I’ll keep trying to remove any pus I see. We got out a large amount of semisolid material last night. She was on probiotics for 5 days, and she’s gained some weight. It does seem like she’s recovered from the initial respiratory infection (no more rattling in her chest) but the eye infection won’t quit. I’ve put terramycin in her eye every day for weeks now… flushing with saline. It was nearly cleared up but then reversed ☹️ I’m near UC Davis, maybe they can advise

She looked much better this morning, very little swelling and no new infection (aside from the little we couldn’t remove last night) I’ve flushed her eye twice today and we’ll do it again this evening… but the good news is I saw her iris for the first time in over a month… it was so nice to see that warm orangey color 😊

Thats good!

I’m so glad that her eye is still intact, and that you could get the pus cleaned out. She must have a secondary infection that keeps causing the pus. You are lucky to be near UC Davis for any help in the future. Let us know how she gets along.

Following up: she still keeps her eye closed often, but there is little swelling or infection. I bring her in for inspection every 2-3 days, I can see her eye, but she still keeps the lid closed. It’s possible with such a prolonged infection the eye has become damaged, but she seems to be getting along fine, which is good. I’ll keep checking on her, but I think the crisis has passed 😊
