Hen Hasn't Laid Eggs in a Week!

I'm curious too...I have a black sex link that would lay every day almost, but when my younger girls started she just stopped! That was about 2 weeks ago, not an egg from her and she's acting fine. Strange...

Who knows? I know the seeds are poisonous so maybe that's the reason. I was tossing in LOTS of apples cause it was apple picking season and my kids sometimes couldn't finish a whole one so they'd feed it to the chickens. We're talking several apples per day from each of my two children. Plus all the apple cores I had from the vat of apple sauce I made. They had completely stopped laying for about 2 weeks and once I stopped giving them the apples they started laying again.....better than ever!

No, she's not a free-ranger. I let her and my other 3 hens out every day or two for an hour or two to eat some bugs and weeds as a treat. But it's not during the time when she normally lays her eggs (late afternoon).

She's just not laying.

I check the coop 2-3 times a day for eggs (and to make sure no one is eating eggs).

Maybe she's just on strike for a few weeks.

She finally laid an egg for me today. Yay!

Thanks for all for the advice and ideas. All is back to normal for now.

I have an Australorp, and live in Florida too and she has quit laying. She is also picking feathers out of the others! I have separated her as of today, but just don't know why she stopped. Maybe the apples? Sheesh, this is so confusing. I looked at her vent to make sure it was ok and she isn't walking funny or anything either. I don't know if she is hiding them, she seems to just go where the others do and hasn't had any private time. So confusing!!! Help!
