Yes...She only has the Rooster and another Hen though..Most flock members love chicks? What's wrong with my chickens then?i have had many batches of chicks hatched by broodies of different breeds over the years and every single other chicken in the flock has alwaya pecked them, quite aggressively if mother hen's back is turned.
I always segregate mum and chicks for at least the first week with a see but no touch chicken wire wall within the shared run. After that the chicks are much stronger and faster, but i would not take a chance with chicks around other chickens in the first week or so, especially if there are a lot of them for mum to protect.
How big is the Coop and Run?7 out of 9 eggs hatched. They are out of nesting box and walking around with mom. They are in the run with one rooster and another hen. I saw rooster peck at chick. Should I separate them?
16x16 feet. I think it is just a peckHow big is the Coop and Run?
Is he aggressive or just giving the odd peck?..
I would just leave them..16x16 feet. I think it is just a peck
It's all part of the process. Unless he's chasing them down, pinning them to the ground and pecking them relentlessly, or drawing blood leave them be.16x16 feet. I think it is just a peck
