hen house door size?

Can someone tell me what is a good size door for the chickens? I think I read somewhere 12" w x 18" tall...

The door to the 'house' part of my tractor is 8"wide by 10" high... the chickens (red sexlinks) seem to find it perfectly adequate but I certainly would not go any smaller.

I'm not sure why you'd need a whole 18" high -- they seem perfectly willing to duck through a doorway, although I suppose if you needed maximal ventilation it would help with that. Consider putting the doorway a little above floor level so that litter doesn't get kicked out as much, especially if you think you might deepen the litter over the winter.

Mine is 9wideX12 high. My black sexies and RRI's have no problem with that size
