Hen house inside a chicken coop?

Oh heck, then you were probably one of them ones that got seriously snowed in last year for a few day yeah? LOL. I had a drift like that, that I had to blow thru just to get out of the driveway! Took me near 2 hours to clear a path for my little rabbit to get thru. I am on the N. Side near Meijer.

I have the hen house rolled into the building now and have a small run attached to it (4' wide x 4' tall x 8'long) so the chickens don't run around, pooping all over the barn and my stuff.

I use pine shaving inside the hen house. What's best for the run, straw or hay.

Here's the little run that I made for them. 4'x4'x8'

I made it so that the end fully opens for easy clean out.

Simple latch for the door (one on each side)

On nice days, I can just open their pen/run and then the big sliding door to the barn and let them out side to free range.

I still would like to know about the hay vs. straw for the run.....

Straw, cheaper and less likely to go moldy.

That is a lovely coop and run, wish I could whip up something that cute and practical to get my girls out on my paddocks.

That is cool. A bit small, so I'd be sure to have them plenty to occupy their pea brains with when they are stuck inside. Like a BOSS peck block.

I know all about messing up everything in the garage though. Totally with you on that one. LOL. There is a guy on the michigan thread, his name is RaZ, he's got a real cool set up in his garage for his girls.

Speaking of that, you should join the michigan thread. LOTS of good people there.
