Hen in trouble

Dear all,

Please would someone advice me on what might be wrong with one of my lovely girls. She seems to be gasping for breath and closing her eyes quite a bit. Also she is waddling rather than walking normally and her vent looks odd - it kinda of seems more visible.

She hasn't being laying for a longtime too....she is 2 years old.....what should I do??

Shell, she might be eggbound. Type egg bound in the search box top right. I can't really give advice since I've never had it happen. Yet. I'm knocking wood right now!

If she's egg bound, you need to get her relaxed. Try putting her in some warm water and massaging her abdomen. You may need to help her get the egg out by putting olive oil on your finger and feeling around inside the vent. There are two openings inside there, the egg will be in the top one.
The main thing is to be very patient and keep the atmosphere around her very calm.
