Hen injured by Fox

Could use some help. I lost one hen to a fox yesterday, and have another hen who has some of the feathers missing from her back. I don't see any other sign of trauma, other than exposed skin. She woke up fine today and appears to be feeding (but is somewhat lethargic).

Anything that I should be doing for her (other than keeping foxes away)!.

If she just lost feathers, and there is no major trauma then it sounds like you are doing OK. Keep a close eye on her, in case there is some sort of internal injuries. Keep up the supportive care- warm, quiet, anything she will eat etc. It may take a little time for her to get back to normal. Repost if she gets worse.

Thanks for the assistance and help. I've checked some more and it seems like one of her wings may be broken (it is hanging much lower than her other wing). Also, there was an egg in the nest this morning where the shell was completely cracked and I'm pretty sure that is hers. However, the Hen that was injured is walking around and appears to be eating a little and drinking as well.

Are completely cracked eggs a sign of internal injuries?

Can Hens recover from internal injuries or a broken wing?

Chickens can recover from some very serious injuries. I'm frequently astounded. I'm not very good with the medical questions, I have little real experience.

I'm going to attach somegood info about wound care. Pat attention to post #16. And some info about bandaging. If I remember correctly it has info about broken wings.
