One of my hens (a Delaware 12 weeks old) has not been eating much but she is drinking. I first noticed this yesterday. When I opened the door this morning she was the last one out and took her time, and did not run to the feeder, she went to the water. The other two run like mad and start eating. Could she be the last in rank and maybe she waits until after they eat? She does not always follow the other two around either, sometimes she is off on her own relaxing in the run. She does roost with them at night. She is the smallest of my 3 hens, she is very calm and quiet. The other two have always been more active and noisy than her. The Black Star will chase the Orp but they don't bother her. She is not being picked on, has no wounds, not missing feathers. I picked her up and looked her over, her bottom is clean, her feet look good, eyes, etc. I clean my coop and run twice a day (I use sand) I have not noticed any abnormal looking poop when I clean. If I do go to pick her up or reach for her in the coop she will run away and chirps so it's not like she is sitting there not moving. I have seen her eat, it's just not as much as the other two. Thanks for any advice.

They may be keeping her from the feed, at least part of the time. It might help to have two feeders, not right next to each other. Or you might want to remove her for a few minutes each day and offer her food, and let her eat for a few minutes, til she is through, then put her back.

I will add another feeder today, thanks. I'm pretty sure the Black Star is the hen in charge, then the Orp and the Delaware is at the bottom. I have not seen them chase her pick on her, but then again I am not out there 24/7. She came out last, moved out of their way while they ate and went to the water. Other times she is with them and fine. Is this normal behavior in the pecking order if she is at the bottom? I hope it's that and not that she is getting sick.
