Hen is suddenly acting erratically while stumbling.

Hello guys, I hope someone can give me some insight as to what could be the problem with my 2 year old Silkie hen. Suddenly and for the first time ever she began to stare upwards while stumbling as she ran around in a manic way almost like on some sort of mission. Her beak was quivering the whole time. she seemed to lack coordination. Also, she kept making sounds. This is not an "about to lay an egg" or a "I'm looking for my eggs" situation. I tried to feed her water and even food but she wasn't interested. It almost seemed lime it could be a mental thing going on. She definitely seemed stressed. BTW, it seems to have calmed down just a bit right now.

She might have heat stress as it is mid summer right now or she is possibly being over mated and us having a moment of "holy Bantam I can't do this anymore" and is practically having a panic attack maybe? This is completely just a theory though.

I have had large white mushrooms on my lawn in the past. On several occasions, my hens have taken a nibble. All of them were fine, except for one. After 20 minutes, she was very uncoordinated in her movements. Her legs became weak and she looked like she was dying. She finally lay down and was almost unresponsive. Then after 15 minutes she was up and completely fine! The first time this happened I didn't know what was wrong. The second time I realized the correlation. Maybe your hen ate something that caused this reaction.

U know what . . . I'm still puzzle as to what caused that reaction in her. All that I can surmise is that perhaps the cleaning agents that I used to mop the surrounding floor affected her. She also had been brooding for quite a while and had just left her nesting area and maybe was feeling a bit weak. Not sure what it was but thankfully she's back to her spunky self. Haha. That's exactly what I suspected could be a possibility other than inhaling potentially harmful fumes from floor cleaner. All that I know is that one sec she's fine and the next she's going bezerks.

Sure thing. I am so grateful for the people on here helping me when my chickens were having issues, I am happy to do it for other folks. No one should have to feel alone in it.

It is also so nice to hear an "they got better" story! There are a tiny bit fewer of those out there.
