Hello Everyone,
Tikka seems a little unsteady on her feet. She's struggling to jump up into the borders and seems a little shaky. She's not limping but seems unsteady in general. Her tail feathers seem to be a little droopy too. But in her face she looks bright and healthy and is eating, drinking, pooping like normal.
I've answered the questions suggested by the board..
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Rhode Island Red, ~5months?
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
unsteadiness shaky legs, tail feathers seem to be drooping down not pointing up like the others
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
2 days
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
others are fine
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
nothing obvious - but I am a newbie hen keeper
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
nothing that I know of
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
eating and drinking like normal - comes running (although shakily) treats
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
normal poop
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
extra protein (tuna)
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
hopefully treat myself
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Eglu, straw in nesting box Eglu run, wood/bark chips
