Hen is walking around w/her beak open??????

I have a one year old Plymouth-barr named Chicklet. She hasn't laid an egg in 3 days. She is eating, drinking and behaving normally except she is walking around w/her beak open. Do hens pant? I'm in south jersey and it has been 95*-97*degrees for the past 3 days. Is it just that shes hot or could it be something else?

Yes, they do pant, you might want to give her a shallow bowl of water with ice in it to stand or drink out of. Maybe mist her down or wet down the run. I have a Polish hen that does not handle heat at all well and I have to keep her cool or I think I'll lose her. Lot's of cool water available will help.

I broke down and bought a big fan for my girls and they absolutely LOVE it. They sit in front of it all day just soaking up the breeze. It also took care of the same problem you mentioned.
