I have a Bielefelder hen that is 1 year 1 month old and on June 9 I noticed she was laying down in the chicken run and couldn’t walk normal.she did the penguin walk and her her comb was pale. After looking her over she had chicken lice so I treated her and the flock and the coop once a week for the next 4 weeks, lice is gone! Thank goodness! so I brought her indoors and gave her vitamins and electrolytes she was still eating and drinking normal as well. Her poop is normal poop. After a week of being indoors she started to walk normal so I would take her outside with the others and within a matter of minutes she was walking like a penguin. So I brought her inside and I have done epsom salts baths check for egg bound there is no egg. I have also gave her calcium citrate + D3 pills for days 600mg a day. I’m so lost as what could be wrong with her. She has been indoors since June 9 and no eggs from her. Everyone else in the flock is doing great healthy as can be. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Is she showing any signs of starting to molt? She may have a reproductive disorder, usually more common in hens over 2-3, but can happen at her age sometimes. Does she go into the nest box and act like she is laying an egg sometimes? Salpingitis and internal laying, egg yolk peritonitis, cancer, or water belly may all be common in hens. Is her lower belly enlarged? Can you post any pictures of her poops? Does she have any yellow urates in her poop? Cannyou feel of her crop early in the morning to make sure that it is emptying overnight?

Yes her crop is emptying and she does have the white yellow cap on the top of her poop she goes to the nesting box just to lay down in it her lower belly is normal. I will post pic of her poop when I get back home. She is growing new feathers. I just feel so bad for her

Molting can be very hard on them, although she is a little young. They usually molt fir the first time around 18 months old. If the urates are yellow, that might indicate a reproductive disorder or water belly. Fatty liver disease may also cause urates to appear yellow, and water belly.
