Hen keep pecking at bandage

You can try the aluminum spray bandage. It is available at TSC or online.
Hmm….I just watched a video about it because I hadn’t heard of it. I thought It may be a good idea…but I think I saw that it dried silver-ish…kind of shiny. May be that she would peck at that even more so…and perhaps the other hens too. Not sure about using it. Does it dry with a shine to it?

I painted the injured area on a hen with BluKote and then sprayed the area with the aluminum bandage.

My hen's injury was on her side and I put a "saddle" on her too. After the BluKote and the aluminum bandage, she quit pecking at the area.

I did not notice a shine.

Ok…great. I did blukote too, but it made no difference to her…UGH. But maybe the aluminum bandage will help that. Although a saddle won’t work for this situation, I did wonder about some type of sock or something elastic like (not real tight) over the bandage. Not sure if that would help.

There have been studies proving that is not true but the majority of people on BYC continue with the old advice.
So just to confirm…you are saying you believe it is safe to use the creams with the pain reliever? Is there a particular ingredient for pain that should be avoided or that is preferred?

Neosporin contains Pramoxine HCl as the external analgesic (pain killer). I would not be afraid to use the Neosporin + pain relief. You may want to check the ingredients in your creams and Google their toxicity.

I thought pain relievers in creams and ointments were toxic to chickens. Everyone always says to use ORIGINAL Neosporin, with no pain relievers in it.
@Eggcessive?
It is not that you can never use pain relievers or canines in chickens, but since large dosages may be toxic and fatal, only small doses can be used safely, or avoid them if possible. Vets do use lidocaine during surgery for chickens but are very cautious about dosage. Read post 11 in this thread from 2016 about drugs with pain relievers, such as lidocaine, benzocaine, pramocaine/pramoxin, etc:
