Please help, my hen walks around and squawks all day. Not like a rooster but like she's angry and irritated. Not sure why she doing it because none of the other birds are doing it.

Have you picked her up and checked her out? Have you checked the nesting boxes and the coop? Has she laid eggs yet? I'm just guessing here. Is her tail down all the time?

Hi Patty, don't want to hijack this post but have a question. You mentioned tail down all the time. I have an odd pullet. Didn't want to start a thread. She's a white marans, 16 wks. I named her Slow, cause she's just not with the program. Her tail is almost always down. She stays to herself when I let them out. No bugs or illness, eats and poops well. What does tail down indicate?

I thought maybe she might be trying to lay an egg.

I have some hens that do that. Nothing is wrong with them; sometimes it means they want some treats.

Is she also "puffed up" and walks funny? Those are signs of egg binding.

I have one that does that, too. She's always been a complainer. I know she doesn't like the heat, but she just fusses. She's not sick or egg bound, just noisy. Her name was Dusty, but we've renamed her after my great aunt who fussed & corrected me when I was growing up. God bless you Aunt Elsie!

I've checked her, the coop, and nest box. Her tail is perked up like the rest of the girls. Is it because she's looking for a place to lay or could it be something bad?
