Thank you for all the stories and information! I am kind of hoping my birds decide to quiet down, I'm not *exactly* supposed to have chickens, lol! So far nobody seems to mind (and I had a *LOUD* crowing rooster that was sold to me as a pullet for several weeks with no complaints before it went to live with a relative). What great forums!

i was concerned that my hens never sang after laying then i got my rooster, all of a sudden everyone sings the song even the rooster so i decided they are singing to him letting him know about the egg janie

Neither of mine make any noise when laying (I've stood by them multiple times before and after, and I've never heard much of anything beside a thump as the eggs is laid onto the coop floor), instead they apparently make the egg song when they want to come out into the yard!
