Have they produced good eggs for you? I'm hoping they don't burn out in a few years.
I don't want to make you sad, but I won't get any more.
I lost my first at 23 months, second at 25 months, third around 3 years, fourth around 4 years. The last at 50 months old.
Four were egg bound and another had blood in stool.
Here's the oldest a couple of months before passing.

Yep I've lost 2 to egg bound. Production birds are known to have the issues. The rest have been good birds but as they get closer to about 6 years old I plan on thinning them down and putting them in the freezer. Gonna replace them with rhode island reds.

Man, I was hoping that wasn't the case. What other breeds do you recommend for eggs? I would like sweet chickens. I have kids and they love the chickens. So far our buffs and barred rocks are so sweet.

My second Flock of seven Barred Rocks were also friendly, I bought 4 more a couple of months ago and some Rhode Island Reds.
All Barred Rock pullets are friendly, RIR not friendly, don't want to be touched.
My ISA Browns are friendly, but I don't know about their longevity, they are sex-links.
I haven't had any other breeds/types of chickens. GC
