I have 4 hens laying at this time they have been laying for about 4 weeks and doing great from day one they have layed in the nest boxes. Yesterday someone layed in front of the nest box and there was a egg in the nest box there are 6 boxes and for some reason everyone wants the same one (strange girls) so I was thinking that she was waiting on the nest box and couldnt hold it anymore an layed in front of it. Anyway today I went to get eggs and peared in the window and saw someone on the nest so I went on and came back later and she was out so I thought great but no egg . I went to the run and there was the egg with everyone trying to peck it. Its real hot hear I mean the humidity is unreal do you thinks its to hot in the nest box and they are getting out to cool off?Because I have fans set up outside and if lots cooler outside. I know im rambling ha any ideas???? Thanks Tonya

My BO laid her first egg under my apple tree. She kept squawking and going in and out of the coop. I think it just surprised her and out it came. The next one was in the coop, but on the floor. It took about a week and she started laying in the boxes.

In time I bet yours will lay in the boxes, especially with the other ones using the boxes.

This one has been laying in the nest box for 4 weeks that is why I dont get it. The reason I know is because I only have 2 that lay white eggs and they have been laying the longest. And it just started yesterday the laying outside the nest box. She layed my first egg 4 weeks ago.
