Hen lays irregularly, concern?

Hi everyone,

I have a really quick question. My austra white laid her first egg on Monday, and her second egg on Wednesday. It’s Saturday, and I have not gotten any other eggs from her. I’ve checked the entire coop, and I can’t find anything.

Is this a concern or indicative of a problem? Why did she start laying then suddenly stop?

I’m a little puzzled.

Let me make sure I got this right, this is normal? It takes a while for the chicken to adjust to this change?

Yes, completely normal for a new layer to not lay daily at first.

Anything goes with new layers. They can be ultra consistent at first and then full stop. Or they can be erratic and gradually smooth out to consistency. Eggs can be too small or too big, thin shelled, weirdly shaped. As long as she's behaving more or less normally I'd just chalk up any of those things to being a new layer.
