Hello,
My silkie hen went broody about 2 weeks ago and today when I went to go check on her she was outside of her coop clucking madly, she then saw me and hopped back in and sat on her eggs. I felt the eggs and they were stone cold. Will they be okay or will they not survive? Please help, how long are eggs allowed to go cold for?

I had a free range Day 10 broody hen that accidently got locked in the pen overnight and her clutch hatched. The weather temp was around 70* that night.

I had a similar situation a few years ago. The hen was not on her eggs and the eggs were really cold. I figured since the eggs were cold the embryos couldn't have survived. So I opened the egg and low and behold the embryo was still alive! Boy was that a sick feeling! I bet your eggs are just fine.
