Our Wyandotte hen who we have noticed has lost her tail feathers recently (it is winter here in NZ) has started limping and will skip sideways when she walks. She is foraging okay but been off the feed we give our 3 Wyandotte hens for the last few weeks.
My husband checked her over and stretched out her legs and she seemed okay but when he felt her back she cried out in pain. We heard a big dust-up of a hen screaming the other morning and think she may have been injured by one of (or both) of our other hens we have. Any ideas? eg could it be dislocated hip and is it possible to relocate her hip in ourselves?

I would put her in a cage with food and water for resting her legs in case she is being bullied and has injured a leg or something else. Look her over for any swelling, bruising, or puncture wounds where she could have an injury or abscess. This way you can observe her closely for eating, stools, and let her heal and rest.

Thank you very much Eggsessive

. I noticed today she has a bare patch in the middle of her back so my husband thinks one of the other hens is pecking her whilst she sleeps as we havent seen anything happening in the day. He just put a partition in to separate them in the henhouse at night, but we will take up your advise and build a cage to separate her during the day to rest up. Thanks
