My hens and cats get along just fine. Mainly because the cats know that the hens are scary and big and can be mean to their own type, much less a cat who messes with them.

My cat likes to hang out on the roof of the chicken run. I appreciate it because I think it keeps the wild birds and rodents away. The neighbor cat will sit on the adjacent wall and stare at the chickens but neither of them have ever thought to go after anything but a chick. That was the neighbor cat and he learned his lesson haha. In general all my cats have gotten along well with my chickens and I think its a good working arrangement. Neither my cats or chickens are allowed in the house though so I can't speak to that lol
