Hen murdered chick

I just came home to find a very dead chick in front of my broody sebright. There aren’t any other chicks hatched, but one is hatching right now and she keeps pecking the hole in the shell whenever it chirps. Is this normal? Will she just end up killing all of her chicks? Should i move her?

I don’t have an incubator but I do have a more reputable broody hen that would take any chicks. Should l switch the sebright out for the other broody hen, or should I just keep a close eye on her chicks and move them when they hatch?

Not all hens are good mothers. Take them away from her.

I'd say give the eggs to the reliable broody or take them away as soon as they hatch and raise them yourself.

Agreed. A dead chick isn't worth the risk.
