Hen not responding to treatment. Gape worm? Link to video please help assess.

DE is sometimes found on the labels of certain brands of chicken feed as an anti-clumping additive. It does nothing against worms when ingested into the body and becomes wet.

Since most of the crop problems I have seen have been due to a secondary issue, mostly reproductive disorders which put pressure on the digestive organs, that is why it is important to relaize that worms may or may not be the problem.

I have always felt that it never hurts to worm them, even if it's to know that you can rule worms out. In times of emergency, try what makes sense. So yes. I would worm them all. And if this isn't the problem, it won't hurt them at all.

And because you also have seen sour crop too, it never hurts to keep some Acidified Copper Sulfate on hand.
Many thanks. I just need the boost of confidence to go at it I guess.
Thank you!

As for the copper sulfate, is this the same blue crystal kind you can get at tractor supply??
Only use Copper Sulfate that is approved for poultry. Not the pool type stuff that has other nasty additives. Poultry Copper Sulfate is an additive to feed as a source of Copper in the diet. Always get the Acidified stuff so that its palatable enough to drink, Copper Sulfate on it's own is bitter.

I gave the panacure to the hen that hasn't shown any symptoms yet, in some oatmeal.

I want to give it to the hen with the full crop, Pris, that is showing gaping once in a while, but should I try to give her some oil and massage the crop first? Or should I just give it to her now? I have her separated off so she doesnt get any more feed. But she wont take it in the beak so I may have to give it to her in yogurt. I just dont want to make her crop worse. The hen we had to put down definitely had way too mucin her crop because we didnt realize how bad it was before she just kept eating.

I also noticed Pris's last poop had some darrrrrk brown almost black tar like liquid in it. All her other poops today were totally normal but this last one has me wondering.

Never use oil in a crop. It gums everything up. I would try the wormer and see what the reaction is, wormers work pretty fast. If nothing changes in those that have been wormed in a couple of days, then there is something else wrong. For now added probiotics is the best thing for sour crops until you can get some Acidified Copper Sulfate.

Coccidiosis can slow a crop down along with causing intestinal bleeding. Has it been really wet in your territory lately? Using Corid is a possible item we can try if the wormer and Copper doesn't do the trick. Did your vet check for Coccidiosis?
