I have a 2-year-old Black Australorp hen that has really gone through the ringer the last couple of weeks. She's partially blind and going through a rough molt. My other hens attacked her till she was bloody and half bald, giving her a vacancy in my bathroom for the foreseeable future, and today I noticed something off about her foot.
She seems not to be using her outermost toe on her right foot. When she picks up her feet to walk, the rest of her toes curl in like usual, except for that one toe. I examined it for inflammation or bruising, but it looks perfectly fine. I palpated it for breaks or pain, but she seems to have no issue with me touching it or bending it as she usually would. She seems to be walking fine, but not bearing weight on it. As she stood, I slipped my finger under the toe to see if she would react, and she didn't. I could tell she was bearing almost no weight on that toe. Without any signs of a broken bone, I'm not really sure if there's anything I should be doing? I considered wrapping it, but I don't want to impair her walking or footing due to her limited sight if it's unnecessary. Any advice or insight would be helpful!
