I have a hen about 4 or 5 yrs old and she was out in a thunder storm. She and another hen would not walk after the storm. One hen is fine and the other will not walk. This happened about a month ago. She layed a couple of eggs. I keep her in a basket and let her out everyday in the grass, give her feed and water and she tries to get up using her wings but her legs won't work. When we hold her she will push on our hand with her feet. Anyone else have or had this problem?

This sounds very strange. But our hen isn't walking , either. It started with her limping on one leg, then she stopped walking. There doesn't seem anything wrong with her. At first we thought she was egg-bound but she is laying. We have her in a cat carrier and try to feed her extra nutritious food. We took her to the vet, but she ended up laying and egg and we thought that was the issue. The vet did blood work and told us that her calcium count was low.

When you look at her feet, does your hen curl them up when you put her on a flat surface? Ours does.

I have read that sometimes chickens can get nerve damage (being egg-bound too long and other reasons I can't remember) and then the symptoms could be what you are seeing.

We have been reading up on this forum to see how we can help our hen and I will try this today:

Here is the thread I read about Hyericum:

Sorry but I am new to chickens but I thought I would tell you about our situation. If anything changes after using Hypericum, I will let you know.

Your hen hasn't walked in a much longer time frame, ours stopped walking 4 days ago.

Good luck
