Hi everybody,

I have a small flock of 4 and earlier today I saw a raven in my run. 3 of my chickens were outside of the run free-ranging but one of my chickens (Layla) was still in the coop trying to lay me an egg. As I approached the run the raven ran into the coop.

I an after it and looked inside and Layla was pecking at the raven and the raven ran out into the run again. After this, the other three chickens came and began attacking the raven and the raven was scared off.

About 2 -3 minutes after, Layla was with the flock but she was making what sounded like a distress noise (I will link video). Layla then went away from the flock as she usually does (She's bullied a little bit) and 10 minutes later she was nowhere to be found.

Anybody have any ideas on what may have gone on?
Do chickens run away after scares?

The free ranging area is quite big and there are a lot of hedges and plants to hide in. What should I do? I've grown rather attached to these chickens.

Thank you,

Hopefully she is just hiding and is stressed somewhat. She will very likely return once she calms down. Good luck.

After a few hours of hiding, Layla returned. I found a huge egg from where she was hiding, maybe I should bring Mr Raven in the run for often ;) haha

Thanks for your replies!
