Hen: odd looking leg scales, identification help?

I like your avatar picture! Her floppy comb is the cutest! Was she in the house or is that the view from your coop?
She was in the house at that time, recovering from what we thought was egg-binding. I loved her floppy comb too! She died soon after this photo... she had been slowly failing. We took her to an avian vet, where an X-ray showed her abdomen filled with gravel, which obscured seeing any pathology. The vet said Jewel was "self-medicating" by eating the gravel; she may have had some sort of tumor. We made the difficult choice to euthanize. That's why she's my avatar, as a tribute to sweet Jewel. Maybe more than you wanted to know! LOL!
