hen on eggs for 26 days!!!

hi
i bought hatching eggs at my chicken fair and i put them under my light sussex and she is on 26 days!! no chicks. thought it was 21 days for them to hatch
are the eggs fertile or not and i don't know how to candle eggs.
help me please

if you have a flashlight you can use that to candle them and they take 21 days to hatch the might not be fertile

Use a flashlight, it's what I do. Cup your fingers/hand around the light, and place the egg in your cupped fingers so that no light escapes, and shines directly into the egg. Do this in a dark area.

A fertile egg should be nearly black with very little light shining through, only some at the blunt tip of the egg.

An infertile egg will illuminate red with just hints of darker red floating around.

If you are 'for sure' on 26 days, the eggs are not fertile.
