hen opening month closing eyes and stretching neck while breathing

Yes. Corid is merely a thiamine blocker, not really a medicine. Thiamine is what coccidia feed on in the intestines. Corid starves them.

Worming meds may require a period of egg withdrawal, but some people eat their eggs anyway. It wouldn't hurt you to eat the eggs. If you ever had worms, you would not want to have been exposed to worming meds in case you need to be treated for worms at some point.

so sorry about your hen. I agree she looked quite sick and to be in respiratory distress.
Apparently it’s pretty rare, but I do wonder if she had gape worm. @azygous , do you think the right red line could have been a gape worm? Aren’t they red?
I would think a gape worm would be obvious it's a worm and not a mark on the tongue. But it might be possible.

My husband thought that it could have been gapeworm as well....I guess I'll do more research on gapeworm and see what I can find out. Thanks for your input.

Thanks. I'll get the hens started on it right away. It won't hurt to make sure they don't have it. All hens are happy this morning.
