Pullet is the term for a female before first hatchday. Similar to "heifer" vs "cow" in the cattlemen's business. ("Steer" is the cattle equivalent of "capon" in chickens: the guy got castrated). Chick is the term for "I haven't figured out what it is and the voice hasn't gone from peep to honk yet".Thank you! I apologize. I’m new to what the terms would be called!
