Best way to tell is one of two options
Option 1- look for curled tail feather. if you find it (wont be hard) then its a boy if not a female.
Option 2- Listen to his/her voice. If its a loud QUACK sound which we associate with ducks then its a hen if its a raspy sound it will be a male.
