I'm getting 20 wild turkey eggs and I was just wondering if I should just incubate them or could I try a few under some chicken hens? I have 2 Rhode Island Red hens , New Hampshire red hen and 5 white leghorn hens. Has anybody done this and had a better turn out with the chickens?

Thanks for any info

In my limited experience . . .

My chicks brooded with a hen are wilder ( read, RUN away) than those poults I raised by hand. Not sure if you were planning on the hen also doing the brooding.

I have reliable broody hens-- reliable when the suddenly show up with chicks in tow. Are any of your girls confirmed broodies? I never know when a girl will go broodie-- I collect when I have a confirmed broodie.

I would use the incubator until you have a confirmed broodie, then move the eggs. Be ready to take the eggs back though.
