Sorry! I keep on forgetting that this is an American page. I'm in New Zealand, haha. So TradeMe is our home equivalent of ebay.

It's the middle of winter here. You've got summer, right? I heard you will get a lot more roos in winter than hens...so probably that's true?

Yes, it's summer here now. No, that's not correct. The hens chose the gender of the chicks, weather has nothing to do with it either. It's creative thinking though.

That's what I was wondering about! They are not reptiles, so how could the weather determine the gender! But there's a lot of info like that out there. I can just raise the chicks in winter as I'm too busy in summer.

Yes, exactly. But I did realize I do get more pullets with refrigerated eggs, if you wanna try that?

Oh yes. Now at 3 ½ weeks I can clearly see I have ONE hen and five roos! But...those boys will be nutritious and lovely roasts, so I'm not too upset.
