Hen or Roo & Breed?

Hi I’m Kathy and a new chicken mom. I have 2RIR and 2 BR 4 month old pullets. I have 5 6 week old chicks that came from a classroom hatch.

All beautiful mixed breeds. It's a bit early still to know for sure, but I'm almost positive your 3rd baby is a cockerel. I'd also keep an eye on the 2nd and 4th.

Agreed. All are crossbreds. Classroom chicks almost always are crossbreds. Looks like yours most likely have Easter Egger in them.

I’m in the same boat as you. I also have a classroom hatch. I have no idea what mine are. Mine are almost 4 weeks old. Hoping for no roosters. I do know 1 is a Turken and it is so sweet.

Yours are very likely crossbreds as well.

Most often when the chicks are young and it's hard to tell, the females tend to start getting their tail feathers before the males do.

That’s what I was thinking but that’s ok. I love them and I’m having so much fun. New to the chicken world. The bummer is if I have a rooster not allowed where I live in California. I will need to find a good home for it.
