Hen or Roo dark Brahma?

Unfortunately, one can almost sex chicks without pics simply by these words "this is my favorite chick, it's so friendly and outgoing". Bout guaranteed to be a rooster right there.

I think you really need to pare down to only one rooster, if that. So you have one hen and three roosters? Oh yeah, roos gotta go, or you need to set up a bachelor pad for them. And I don't care if they're friendly breeds or not, or how calm and friendly they are now, do NOT let your toddler around them unsupervised, and I mean your body between the bird and the little one. Those rooster hormones make even sweet birds do mean things, just out of the blue. They seem triggered my smaller children's quick movements and noise, and frequently attack from behind when the child is moving away from the bird.

HE is a roo....my dark brahma has been very docile so far...he started crowing yesterday and the night before he started biting the barred rock hens on the neck. He has been more aggressive with them than us.

Uh-oh. Does this mean my Dark Brahma is a roo, too? Here is a pic... but still not cock-a-doode-doodling.

Absolutely beautiful! I have light brahmas and buff brahmas but have never seen dark brahmas. He is so pretty. Why not try to keep them both and just see how things play out. I have several roosters and things seem to go smooth. If my silkie rooster decides he is mr tuff guy and takes on my EE rooster , which is twice his size, I squirt them both down with the hose and after a few squirts everyone is cool now!

Your biggest problem will probably not be the boys fighting but the hens being abused by the Roos teenage hormones

Also I don't know if this is just something that happened to me but I handled my silkie rooster darn near every day because he had club feet and needed a little help and he was my favorite.....welll I thought it was a girl but NOPE turned out to be a roo. Well no biggie I thought until he decided I was one of his hens and he was trying to do the dance and peck me and blah blah. So now I have peachy (handicapped silkie roo) who I have to give a little thump so he knows I'm boss! My experience with roosters is very little but I have to say.....I received an adult tophat roo and he has only run from me but when I need to catch him he is very calm, never mean, all my roosters that I DID NOT handle steer clear of me. They run when I come out there. I have never done anything to them it's just something they have always done.

So I wondered was me handling the roosters more harm than good?

can anyone guess the sex of my 3 weeks old dark brahma chicks

this one on the left side who is slightly light in color

the other 1 on left again

I have a lot of roosters and they seem to get along so don't worry

One Buff Orpington, One Dark Brahma, One Light Brahma and One Welsummer all roosters. To keep them from fighting I always give them each five hens of their own breed that keeps them contempt. They get along really well they don't mind when I pick up hens but they protect the flock my roosters killed a raccoon so don't worry. Also, Light Brahmas don't get tail feathers until 5 months ish. Best of Luck
