Thanks for confirming, I was afraid so. Ms.Hen, who now is Mr.Hen, is my daughter's favorite chicken so we will keep him. Being as this is our first chickens, and I'm not wanting any baby chicks, I would have to separate him from the others I know, but do roosters do well being seperated and by themselves? None of the girls are laying yet, when should I separate him? Also, he's been eating lots of feathers laying around. Not plucking his or others, just eating them off the ground. He's the only one doing this, normal for a rooster or possible issue?
Yes, that looks like a rooster. You do not need to separate him from the hens, eggs will only hatch if incubated for 21 days straight. As for him eating feathers, what kind of feed do you give him?
