This is my 6 week old Light Brahma (Rex or Lexy) From about 2 weeks old, I have had the suspicion that he is a Roo. He is the proudest chick I have ever seen. Unless eating, he is always walking tall with his head held high. The other chicks automatically look at him as the leader. The thing that makes me wonder if im wrong is the fact that he has no substantial comb at this point. I know that Brahmas are very slow to mature, but if he is indeed a he, I would have thought I would see some obvious sign by now. Hopefully someone with more experience with the breed will be able to give me a more definitive answer. Thank you for your input.

At the moment it looks to me like its a pullet but the tail looks like its growing out like roosters have so its hard to say. In the picture its hard to tell but are its hackle feather (neck feather) pointed??

so far looks like a pullet but the comb says cockerel even though its not red. i have a 4 month old pullet thats comb isnt that big, so my guess is its a cockerel

It is hard to tell whether he has pointed neck feathers or not. Some (especially the black) do seem to be pointed. But most appear to be more rounded. I will have to coax him out of the run to get a better look at them.

I would think that at 6wks if anything you'd be seeing 3 small but defined pea comb rows even on a brahma but I have no idea HOW slowly they mature.
